Browse and search adventure sports in Eryri National Park.
Eryri, also widely known as Snowdonia, is one of the finest outdoor destinations in Wales. Yr Wyddfa may be its most famous mountain, but the National Park extends far beyond a single summit, with rocky ridges, mountain lakes, wooded gorges, rivers and quieter landscapes spread across a large part of North Wales.
Walking naturally plays a major part in any visit, but there are plenty of other ways to experience the landscape. Depending on current availability, you may also find guided climbing, canyoning, gorge walking and wild swimming experiences suitable for everyone from complete beginners to more experienced adventurers.
This guide combines those bookable activities with practical planning advice and links to my own Eryri walking routes. Whether you want to follow a self-guided mountain walk or try something new with a qualified local provider, it should help you begin planning your time in the National Park.
How the activity listings work
The bookable experiences on this page are supplied by Adventuro and operated by independent activity providers. Welsh Man Walking does not run these activities. If you book after following one of the links, I may receive a commission at no extra cost to you. Prices and live availability are confirmed on Adventuro when you book.
The listings below search within 50 km of a central Eryri location. This wider radius is necessary because the National Park covers a large area, but it means an occasional result may be located elsewhere in the surrounding North Wales region. Always open the activity and check its exact meeting point before booking accommodation or making travel plans.
The selection updates automatically as providers add or remove bookable experiences. If a section has fewer than three results—or no results—it simply means Adventuro does not currently have enough matching activities within the search area.

Hiking and guided walks
Eryri contains everything from approachable valley and lakeside walks to serious mountain days involving steep ground, scrambling and exposed ridges. You do not need a guide for every route, and you will find several self-guided Eryri walks elsewhere on WMW. A guided experience can nevertheless be valuable if you are new to mountain walking, want to develop navigation skills or prefer to explore unfamiliar terrain with local knowledge.

Eryri has a long association with outdoor climbing, but natural rock introduces considerations that do not exist on an indoor climbing wall. Wild swimming
Eryri’s lakes and rivers make wild swimming understandably appealing, but open water can remain extremely cold and conditions can change quickly. A guided session may be a sensible introduction if you are unfamiliar with the location or want support with equipment and water safety. Check the distance, expected water temperature, swimming ability and supplied kit before booking.

Planning an outdoor day in Eryri
🧐 Weather and mountain conditions –
Weather can vary considerably across Eryri and change quickly on higher or exposed ground. Check a mountain-specific forecast before travelling rather than relying only on a general forecast for the nearest town. Be prepared for the possibility that a provider may alter an activity if conditions make the original plan unsuitable.
🧐 Clothing and equipment –
Your required kit will depend on the activity. For a mountain walk this may include suitable footwear, waterproof layers, warm clothing, food, water, navigation and emergency essentials. Technical activity providers may supply helmets, harnesses, wetsuits or buoyancy aids, but inclusions vary. Use the individual booking page as the final kit list.
🧐 Wild swimming and water safety –
Do not assume that calm-looking water is warm or hazard-free. Cold-water shock, submerged obstacles, changing depth and difficult entry or exit points can all present risks. Avoid swimming alone, understand your own ability and follow the instructions of the activity provider. Access to the water should never be taken for granted simply because a location appears online.
🧐 Getting there and parking –
Eryri covers a very large area, so two activities described as being in Snowdonia may have meeting points a considerable distance apart. Confirm the exact location before choosing where to stay. Popular mountain car parks and roads can become exceptionally busy; use designated parking, consider public transport or shuttle services where appropriate and never obstruct gates, residents or emergency access.
🧐 Respecting Eryri –
Eryri is a living and working landscape as well as a National Park. Take litter home, keep dogs under effective control, protect wildlife and livestock, avoid damaging vegetation and stay away from unsafe or eroded ground. Respect the Welsh language, local communities and private property, and be prepared to change your plan if a popular location is already overcrowded.
🧐 Booking and availability –
The cards are refreshed from Adventuro, while final prices, dates and availability are shown on its booking pages. The experience provider—not Welsh Man Walking—makes operational decisions and handles the activity itself.
Walk Eryri with Welsh Man Walking
If you would rather plan your own mountain day, these WMW guides provide route descriptions, practical information and GPX downloads.
- Best Routes Up Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) in Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park – Which Path Should You Take?If you want to climb Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) but avoid the crowds, the Rhyd Ddu Path is one of the best ways to do it. It’s quieter, more remote-feeling, and gives you that proper mountain day without the chaos you get on Llanberis or Pyg/Miners. The route builds gradually, opens out into wide views across Snowdonia, and finishes with a narrow ridge that adds just a touch of edge without being overly technical. It’s a brilliant route if you want the summit, but with a bit more space to actually enjoy it.
- The Ranger Path to Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) — The Most Underrated Classic Route to the SummitThe Snowdon Ranger Path is one of the most underrated ways up Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). It’s quieter than the main routes, more gradual than the Watkin Path, but you still get what you came here for, the mountains and the views and the challenge. Starting near Llyn Cwellyn, it builds steadily before opening into wide views and joining the final push to the summit. If you want a solid all-rounder without the crowds, this is a great choice.
- Llanberis Path – Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) Easiest and most Straightforward Route to the Summit of SnowdonIf you’re looking for the easiest and most straightforward route up Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), the Llanberis Path is the one you need. It’s long rather than difficult, following a steady gradient all the way to the summit alongside the mountain railway. There’s nothing technical, no scrambling, and navigation is as simple as it gets, but don’t underestimate it. It’s still a full mountain day, just a more gradual one.
- Rhyd Ddu Path – Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) via the Quietest Route to the Summit of Snowdon, Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park.If you want to climb Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) but avoid the crowds, the Rhyd Ddu Path is one of the best ways to do it.
- Tryfan South to North Route, Ogwen Valley, Eryri (Snowdonia) – Part of the Glyderay Group. Famous for the Adam & Eve Stones.Tryfan is one of the most iconic peaks in Wales, and is in the Eryri(Snowdonia) National Park. Tryfan is a jagged, rocky mountain that offers a proper hands-on scramble from the very start. This is a route for experienced walkers with a good head for heights. If you’re after a challenge beyond your typical hillwalk, Tryfan delivers – big views, boulder-hopping, and the legendary Adam and Eve stones on the summit.
- Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) Walk – Up the Pyg Track, Down the Miners’ Track Circular Walk from Pen-y-Pass.Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) is the highest mountain in Wales, standing proud at 1,085 metres (3,560 feet). This classic circular walk from Pen-y-Pass takes you up the rugged and scenic Pyg Track before descending via the gentler Miners’ Track. It’s a fantastic way to tackle the mountain, combining dramatic landscapes, epic views, and a real sense of adventure, all within a manageable 7.5-mile loop. A great option for fit walkers wanting a big mountain day without tackling technical ridges.
- Watkin Path – Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) Circular Walk in Eryri National Park via South Ridge, Snowdonia, North Wales. The Watkin Path is one of six routes up to the summit of Yr Wyddfa, and in my opinion it is the toughest, the steep slopes near the top particulary from the Rhyd Ddu Path are challenging, and not to be underestimated. The first part however is an easy gradual climb through the tree’s and then as you enter the clear, you will see the peak and also the Rhaeadrau Waterfalls which you will pass, and maybe as we did, have a little swim in!
