Types of Walks

As Welsh Man Walking, I’ve rambled up mountains, strolled along coastlines, wandered through woodlands and soaked up street art, and I’ve started to pull together the best of these walks into easy-to-browse categories. Whether you’re after a tough all-day challenge or just fancy a peaceful potter, you’ll find something below that suits your boots.

City Walks

There’s something brilliant about exploring a city on foot. These urban routes take you through historic streets, hidden alleyways, buzzing markets and peaceful parks – all with a strong cup of coffee never too far away.

Whether you’re new to a place or seeing it with fresh eyes, these city walks are all about discovering stories, sights and surprises one step at a time.

Mountain Walks

Looking for that summit feeling? These mountain walks take you up into the clouds, with panoramic views and a real sense of achievement.

From the iconic peaks of Snowdonia to the ridgelines of the Lake District and the wild Scottish Munros, these hikes are for those who don’t mind a bit of sweat and steepness in return for jaw-dropping rewards.

I have also included my walks in Italy, Switzerland and Norway, these are truly epic!

Woodland & Forest Walks

If you love walking under a canopy of trees, hearing birdsong and the crunch of leaves underfoot, this is the section for you.

These peaceful woodland walks are all about fresh air, dappled light and reconnecting with nature – perfect for a slower pace or a family day out.

Coastal Walks

From towering cliffs and sandy bays to smugglers’ coves and wild headlands, these coastal walks are full of sea air and sweeping views.

Perfect for blowing away the cobwebs or soaking up the sunshine, you’ll often spot seabirds, lighthouses and maybe even a seal or two. Just bring decent boots, and maybe a bag for beach finds.
