Welsh Man Walking started the same way most things like this do, I woke up one morning, I needed change in my life, so I put some normal outdoor type clothes on, and went out for a walk to see and experience something new.
Over a few months it developed into a few local hikes around South Wales, and since then it has grown into a full collection of walking routes across the UK and beyond. From the mountains of the Bannau Brycheiniog to Eryri to the Lake District, the Dolomites, Switzerland, Norway and even Japan, it’s all about getting out there and experiencing it properly.
This website is about real walks, real conditions, and giving people the confidence to get out and do it themselves, through information and the encouragement to look for positive change.
Who’s Behind It
I’m Lee Jones, the person behind Welsh Man Walking.
I didn’t come from a mountaineering background or anything like that. It started simple, one walk, then another, then gradually pushing things a bit further each time.
Before long I was planning routes, creating GPX files, figuring out what works and what doesn’t, and sharing it so others could use it too.
That’s how this site came about, just building something useful from experience.
