4 Waterfalls Walk, Finally published the ‘4 Waterfalls Walk’, a beautiful family adventure in the Beacons!, Welsh Man Walking
4 Waterfalls Walk, Finally published the ‘4 Waterfalls Walk’, a beautiful family adventure in the Beacons!, Welsh Man Walking

This ‘4 Waterfalls Walk‘ is one of the really special ones I have been trying to get around to publishing on the website, it’s a very popular walk, and rightly so. The waterfalls are magnificent, and the special one called ‘Sgwd yr Eira’, you can walk behind, but be careful in the winter/spring time, as the water flow is very strong.

I prefer to park at Gwaun Hepste car park, it’s easier to get too, and bigger than the others, and it’s payment by card only, the details are below. Peak season all the car parks will get very busy, so get there early.

From the car park set off past the tourist information board, down the dirt road through the conifer plantation, and this will be your way back up to the car. It’s a beautiful start to the walk, but quite a steep walk back, as you will see.

Directions:

  • We get there by heading along the A470 to Merthyr Tydfil, then taking the A465 to Hirwaun, before turning off onto the A4059 heading towards Ystradfellte.
  • The start point is at Gwaun Hepste car park, address – ‘RF24+JH, Ystradfellte, Aberdare CF44 9JF’.
  • The sign will creep up on you, and at that sign you will need to turn off the road.

Sgwd yr Eira Waterfall – 4 Waterfalls Walk in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) 👇

Sgwd Yr Eira meaning (Fall of Snow) is reached by walking down the path until you reach the rocky bottom. The path is very slippery in places, especially on the well-worn stones, but take your time and it will be fine. To walk behind the waterfall, you will need to make your way over the rocks on the left, then the path behind the waterfall appears where the sandstone has worn away, in wet season the flow can be very strong.
