Sunstar Alpine Hotel & Spa – Grindelwald, Switzerland

The Sunstar Alpine Hotel & Spa was by far the most comfortable and luxurious hotel we stayed in; it has everything and more and we really did enjoy our stay here. The hotel is warm, the bar is very comfortable and has a huge real fire, which we all sat in front of at one point with a beer and just took in the day. The rooms are really nice, again very warm, and we booked ahead and asked for the Eiger view which I didn’t get on my first trip, but it’s so worth asking for, as if you’re lucky to have a clear day you can see the whole range and see how big they all really are.

It’s situated right at the top of Grindelwald so if your trekking in, it’s a bit of climb and not what you want after 8-10 hours of it, but the views are excellent and you’re situated right in the middle of town, so the bars, restaurants, shops and tourist stuff are all a short walk away.

So the Sunstar Alpine Hotel & Spa isn’t just about the views, warmth and the bar, the Spa is out of this world, you have the pool with a steam room, then downstairs you have the outdoor sauna, a nice sitting area facing the Eiger and then you have a separate area where the luxury spa rooms are there for all to use. We really relaxed, ate and slept well and then for breakfast we all made sure we had a large breakfast, plenty of coffee and also topped up our flasks, and we all tucked a few Danishes, pastries and fruit in our bags for the long walk we had that day.

This is an outstanding hotel, everyone is very friendly and helpful, and we really enjoyed it.
