Arabba, a small alpine village tucked beneath the mighty Sella Group, is one of the best-kept secrets for hikers in the Dolomites. Located in the Veneto region, near the border with South Tyrol and Trentino, Arabba offers direct access to some of the most dramatic high-altitude trails in the eastern Dolomites, without the bustle of larger resort towns.
The village sits at the foot of the Passo Pordoi, making it a strategic starting point for hikes to Sass Pordoi (the “Terrace of the Dolomites”), the Viel del Pan panoramic trail, and connections to the Marmolada glacier. From Arabba, you can also quickly reach the Alta Via 2 route, take cable cars into the Padon Ridge, or explore quiet valleys with rifugi dotted along the way. For adventurous hikers, there are also several via ferrata routes and multi-day hut-to-hut options within easy reach.
Despite its size, Arabba is well-equipped, with cosy hotels, apartments, traditional mountain restaurants, and gear shops.
