Affilate link: Roamless eSIM
It’s not unusual when travelling to use eSIM’s, it’s a very popular travel method which allows you to have constant data, but there has been issues. Up until now when you move between countries, you also have to move between eSIM’s, paying ridiculous roaming charges, or losing signal just as you cross a border, so then Roamless came along and it did make a big difference. I’ve tried a few eSIMs over the years — Sim Local, Simply, and others, but this one offers something genuinely different. It gives you one eSIM that works across 200+ countries without having to swap or switch.
I recently used Roamless on a trip to Chamonix, France. We stayed in town, and the company we went with ‘Mont Blank Guides’ drove us through Italy and Switzerland to summit Gran Paradiso and Allalinhorn, 2 x 4000+ meter mountains, and all the while I was able to stay connected. I did find it much easier having the freedom of one eSIM, which meant I didn’t need to buy a single country eSim at the border, or buy multiple country eSIM’s before I left.
What Is Roamless?
Roamless is a travel eSIM app designed to make global connectivity simple. Instead of buying a new eSIM for each country, you install one global eSIM that works in over 200 destinations. There’s no contract, no expiration date on data, and you can top up your credit whenever you need to.
- Single Global eSIM™ — Works across 200+ countries automatically.
- RoamlessFlex — Pay-as-you-go model with credits that never expire.
- RoamlessFix — Fixed data bundles for heavy users or longer stays.
- In-App Calls — Make and receive calls worldwide using credits.
- Easy Setup — One-tap activation through the Roamless app.
- No Expiration — Unused data or credit stays valid until you use it.
My Experience Using Roamless in the Alps
As someone who’s always looking for reliable connectivity while hiking and exploring, Roamless really impressed me. I installed the eSIM before flying out, and as soon as I landed in Geneva, it connected automatically. We then drove to Chamonix in France, and over the next couple of days we travelled into Italy and later into Switzerland, then back to France, it didn’t miss a beat.
Compared to other eSIMs I’ve used, this was completely hassle-free. No need to scan a new QR code, switch plans, or reconfigure settings — it just worked. That alone made it worth every penny.

How to Set Up Roamless
- Download the Roamless app on iOS or Android.
- Sign up and choose between RoamlessFlex or RoamlessFix.
- Install your global eSIM using the guided setup.
- Top up your balance or choose a fixed data plan.
- Travel, cross borders, and stay connected automatically.
- Use the app to make calls or monitor usage.
It takes less than 5 minutes, and once it’s active, you don’t have to touch it again — whether you’re in France, Italy, or halfway up a mountain.
How It Compares to Other eSIMs
I’ve tried a few — Sim Local, Simply, and Airalo. They all work fine but often require new eSIMs for each country, or they expire after 30 days. Roamless is different. It’s one eSIM for every trip, everywhere. No expiration, no constant switching, no wasted data.
- One eSIM vs Many: Roamless keeps things simple — install once, travel anywhere.
- Pay-as-you-go: Only pay for what you use, no forced bundles.
- Automatic country switching: It recognises your location instantly.
- In-app calls: You can ring home or local numbers easily.
Verdict – My Honest Take
If you travel regularly or just want a reliable connection wherever you go, Roamless is genuinely one of the best eSIMs I’ve used. The flexibility, reliability, and simplicity make it a perfect companion for anyone crossing borders. It worked flawlessly in three countries on my Chamonix trip, and I’ll definitely be using it again for future adventures.
It’s not the cheapest option out there, but the freedom of not having to switch eSIMs or lose credit makes it worth it, especially if you travel through multiple regions like I do as Welsh Man Walking.
