All my walking guides and adventures are free to read, thanks to the support of kind folks like you. That said, creating and walking each route takes time (and plenty of coffee!), so if you’ve enjoyed this post or found it useful, feel free to share it around — or even treat me to a coffee or two. It really helps keep the boots moving and the guides coming. You can do that here: click this link. Diolch as always!

Some really exciting news for our Mont Blanc training and challenge coming up in September 2025! We’re thrilled to have the support of Water-to-Go, a company that has basically revolutionised the way we access safe drinking water on the go. They’ve kindly provided us with their incredible filtration bottles to use on our journey, and we’re going to put them to the test in the mountains of South Wales, as we train.

We met the Water-to-Go team at the 2025 National Outdoor Expo at the NEC in Birmingham, where they generously handed over our bottles. These aren’t just any water bottles – they use NASA-developed filtration technology to remove up to 99.9999% of bacteria, viruses, and contaminants from virtually any water source. That means streams, lakes, and even tap water anywhere on the planet becomes safe to drink without the need for single-use plastic or heavy filtration systems.

For our Mont Blanc trip, this could be a real game-changer. Staying hydrated at altitude is crucial, but carrying litres of water adds a lot of weight to your backpack. So, with the Water-to-Go bottles, we can hopefully refill on the go, drastically reducing the amount of water we need to carry while still ensuring we stay properly hydrated. Less weight means more energy so we can focus on the climb!

It’s no surprise that Water-to-Go was named the ‘Best Travel Water Bottle for 2024‘ – they’ve created something that’s not only practical for adventure travel but also environmentally responsible. With more and more people using these bottles, we’re cutting down on plastic waste and reducing our environmental impact on the mountains, and of course anywhere else in the world.

Huge thanks to the Water-to-Go team for their support – we can’t wait to share how these bottles perform as we continue training and, ultimately, take on Mont Blanc in September!

If you’re into hiking, travel, or outdoor adventures, these bottles are an absolute must-have. Check them out and see how they can transform the way you stay hydrated on your own journeys! I am creating a challenge diary of our training for Mont Blanc, click here to read all my posts, and I hope there is some advice in there to support you on your own personal mountaineering challenge.
