All my walking guides and adventures are free to read, thanks to the support of kind folks like you. That said, creating and walking each route takes time (and plenty of coffee!), so if you’ve enjoyed this post or found it useful, feel free to share it around — or even treat me to a coffee or two. It really helps keep the boots moving and the guides coming. You can do that here: click this link. Diolch as always!
Outdooractive – My favourite hiking app
Outdooractive is the hiking app I use to create all my routes, whilst at the same time sharing them on their platform for others within the walking community to use as guides. I use all the helpful elements in the app, to create detailed routes with start points, 3D walk through’s, GPX files, Maps, accurate directions and I also have a great discount code that will save you 10 Euro’s off the Pro and Pro+ versions (see top of website).
As a part of the ‘Affiliate Program‘ I went along to the 30 year event, to meet the people I have a great relationship with but have never met, and it was my first time in Germany, and having heared so much about the place I couldn’t turn the offer down.

The event took place in the historic castle that sits in the center of Immenstadt, I arrived on the Wednesday afternoon, and was happy to just sit in the background and leave the teams enjoy the day, but as soon as I arrived I felt welcomed and was instantly invited to join the UK team, who were happy for me to tag along with them over the 3 days, which I was very grateful for.
Hartmut started outdooractive 30 years ago with his cousin, and the story of them travelling the world exploring and loving their outdoor sports, then taking the opportunity to create plans and guides so that other people could enjoy outdoor activities, was amazing. I wasn’t expecting that, but it set the tone for the whole event, and I could feel that the whole room was behind him, and I also have to say the hospitality at the event was superb, offering an open bar and a stunning buffet, and then a big party on the Thursday night.
Also, well done to all six of the entrants in the first ‘Outdooractive Innovation Awards‘, the winners receiving a huge 20,000 Euro’s to carry on their excellent work.
Friday was the day I was really looking forward too, my first hike in Germany, starting at the headquarters, and walking with all the outdooractive teams. The route was a 12 mile circular, and being treated to a traditional meal at the top, before heading back down and finishing off the 3 day event, Hartmut leading the way.

Thank you so much for joining us, Lee! It was wonderful to meet you in person and we can’t wait to see what other adventures you have in-store this year!
Cheers Sarah, I loved it, what a great experience, I love travelling and meeting the locals and getting into the mountains, so it was perfect. Back to it on Sunday in Wales, got a really famous walk planned and will put it on the website soon.
It was great meeting you there!
